Located in Kent, Washington, the Advanced Manufacturing Prep (AMP) Training Center combines a wide-range of programs focused on growing Washington State’s workforce through pre-employment training, apprenticeships and incumbent worker development. This 3,000 square foot facility includes classroom instruction, equipment from industry and subject matter experts to teach curriculum driven by local-area employers.

First AJAC Training Facility

The 3,000 square foot training center is the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee’s first to meet the needs of an industry with a growing skills gap and shortage of middle skilled workers.

Manual Machining

Two manual lathes and knee mills on the shop floor will help students develop a deep understanding of conventional machining – building a strong relationship to how metal is cut and efficiently manufacture parts for smaller orders.

Classroom Instruction for Every Program

The AMP Training center will offer six programs including orientation and screening, pre-apprenticeship for advanced manufacturing, entry-level and advanced apprenticeships for incumbent workers, short-term training and mentorship courses for local employers.

Pneumatic Tools

Commonly referred to as air-powered tools, this equipment, driven by compressed air, is used at the training center to teach secondary operations such as riveting, drilling, and grinding.

Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machining

The AMP Training Center utilizes HAAS VF2 CNC Machine to teach, develop and train the next generation of machinist using industry-standard state-of-the art technology.

Industry-Driven Curriculum

Over the last 10 years, AJAC has developed and refined industry-recognized curriculum to teach all of our programs from the Manufacturing Academy to our registered adult apprenticeship programs.
